The farewell chapel is a longitudinal compact object aligned with the terrain contour lines. When setting its shape and dimensions, the dominant church of st. Tomaž was taken into account – the chapel and its exterior blend in perfectly with the surrounding ambient.
The chapel’s outer layer is predominantly closed in direction toward south. Toward west, the roof transforms into an awning that covers the entire platform for visitors.
The ground floor includes parallel longitudinal program-based lines. The northern line is represented by an external utility corridor. Central line consists of both farewell rooms. Those are followed by a separate space that includes a room for the relatives of the deceased and a restroom. The southern-most line of the object is the interconnecting hallway.
The chapel’s exterior upgrades the object. The northern wall by the outer hallway transforms into jamb walls that gradually rise toward the existing plateau of the church. All the outer walls are covered with climbing plants.
