Maribor City Hall Extension is designed as a modern, light, bold and transparent construction that complements the look and feel of the existing building with broad hallways and high ceilings. Traditional architecture meets the contemporary approach in a friendly and productive way.
The extension is formed as a space loop that materializes the office spaces by intertwining with central atrium. Such setting allows multiple configurations of open and semi-closed sub-atriums and light paths in horizontal and vertical directions.
The openness of the atria allows plenty of quality external light to enter the extension’s interior. Such architectural approach is based on appealing and diverse dialog between interior and exterior. The atrium interconnects the employees throughout the extension – those on higher floors remain in touch with vibrant action on the ground floor.
The administrative unit is a spacious two-level hall. It uses the vertical light of the glass atrium roof in the central part and stretches around the external atrium which gives the hall a fresh and energetic vibe with its exotic vegetation.
